It's Joshua's birthday today. I keep thinking there should be nothing to it since he never was much for celebrating his birthday anyway. And for the most part, I felt fine except when I got phone messages or emails from people who were thinking of him/me on this day. I spent the weekend with Dean and Jennifer and tonight we had dinner at a friend's. She happened to make twice-baked potatoes - a favorite of Joshua's. She also had homemade strawberry shortcake for desert. Normally not something that would have any significance except for the fact that a month or so ago I had promised to make that for Joshua for his birthday. He had really started to enjoy watching a show on the Food Network, America's Test Kitchen. One episode featured this amazing strawberry shortcake that he was practically drooling over. I said I would make it and he laughed at the thought. Well, I may not have made this one for him, but we all had a few laughs and told a few tales of him tonight. Happy Birthday.
