We've had a difficult time of it over the past couple of days. Unfortunately, it always seems to coincide with Mabel's arrival, which was on Wednesday. Joshua has been suffering from, of all things, severe constipation. Anyone who knows him well understands the irony of this. But due to the intensity of all of the pain medications he is on, it is an inevitable side effect. Coupled with that, we were up all night Wednesday with a severe pain flare-up. We had to load him up with a ton of Oxycodone (the fast-acting one that he takes), and I think he is still sleeping it off. The pain is mostly under control now, although we have to be so, so careful when we touch him and especially when we need to move him. He has weakened even further, hasn't eaten for the past couple of days and is sleeping nearly constantly. He was a little more alert this afternoon, immediately requesting a Coke.
