I'm so happy that the week has quieted down. The phone isn't ringing quite as much, no visitors for the time being, the apartment is mostly put back together, and I'm feeling calmer too. Joshua seems to have adjusted somewhat to his medications and has been more alert and is a bit stronger (although, I caution, it is all relative). Dean, who was here for the weekend, and Jennifer, who arrived today, were amazed to see the change in him from a week ago. He's been sitting up in bed, talking with people, watching a bit of t.v., and today even sat in his wheelchair for 15 minutes or so. I know he was happy to get out of the bedroom.
We've had a steady stream of support with friends and neighbors doing laundry, bringing food, sitting with Joshua and making sure I get out of the apartment for some fresh air and a break. Hard to believe that a year ago I was concerned I wouldn't have enough help to get through this ordeal. I am overwhelmed at the kindness and love we are being shown.

Laura,
When I flipped open my planner this morning, and old email of yours with your phone number fell out. That's why I'm contacting you today. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Joshua for peace and comfort.
My best,
Barbara
